Internet connectivity is vital for educational attainment, traditional economic activity, technological innovation, and connected cities. NBOI’s internet strategy delivers infrastructure based platforms, connectivity as a service, and community engagement as program integration.
Phase I: NBOI is building, will operate, and provide community engagement mechanisms that support a mesh network to provide free and shared internet access to New Brunswick’s residents and visitors in targeted economic zones and city parks totaling over 110 acres.
Phase II: By definition, mesh networks allow the public to build additional cells ad-hoc, and incorporate them into the larger aggregation of bandwidth. NBOI has already secured direct support provided by Google employee hours for the creation/ distribution of how-to materials, and workshops.
